Matisonn quits Pru in return to South Africa

Matisonn: Discovery move
Pru Health chief executive Shaun Matisonn is leaving the firm after five years.
Matisonn is returning to South Africa to head Discovery Vitality, a wellness programme which rewards policyholders living healthier through gym membership and lifestyle changes.
Pru Protect chief executive Herschel Mayers will take over as CEO of both Pru Health and Pru Protect. Matisonn joined the firm in March 2005, replacing Catherine McGrath.
Mayers says: “The move to align Pru Health and Pru Protect even more closely in the UK will ensure greater synergies and the ability to apply integrated products in the market. I look forward to building further on the significant growth achieved by both businesses.”
In October last year, Money Marketing revealed Pru Health was making changes to its Vitality programme for its corporate, small medium enterprise and individual plans. The shake-up included an amended list of partner hospitals, pricing changes, a no-claims discount and caps on renewal increases.
Earlier this month, Pru Protect director of protection Kevin Carr left the firm to set up his own consultancy firm, Kevin Carr Consulting. Pru Protect also appointed former Munich Re chief underwriter Paul Gyseman as its new director of claims and underwriting earlier this month.
