L&G offers split sums assured

Legal & General is offering clients the option to apply for different sums assured when buying critical illness cover and term assurance.
Split sums assured are available online via L&G’s quote and apply system, or via The Exchange, Assureweb and Webline.
L&G says the latest development means advisers can tailor a protection sale to suit individual clients’ needs.
L&G managing director for protection Bernie Hickman says: “Split sums assured makes it easier for advisers to sell critical illness cover on top of life insurance. Clients often can’t afford as much critical illness cover as they can life insurance, which may mean they don’t take out any at all.
“Our move will help advisers sell more and improve people’s financial security by addressing the protection gap.”
