Kevin Carr leaves Pru to set up PR firm

Pru Protect director of protection Kevin Carr is leaving the provider to set up his own consultancy firm.

Kevin Carr Consulting will offer consultancy, public relations, marketing and training services to the protection and wider financial services industry.

Clients of the new firm include research firm the Protection Review, where Carr will take up the role of chief executive, and the Finance and Technology Research Centre, where Carr will become protection strategy consultant. Pru Protect is also a client of the consultancy firm.

Carr joined Pru in August 2008 after leaving Lifesearch, where he was head of protection strategy.

Carr says: “I’ve had a fabulous journey over the last ten years and I’ve learned a lot on both the manufacturing and distribution side at Lifesearch and Pru Protect. Now, I’m keen to develop this new aspect of my career to maximise my knowledge and experience working with a range of exciting new partners.

“I have a long list of exciting new ideas and this new venture gives me the flexibility to inject greater variety into my work and focus on the unique skills I can bring to the market.”

Protection Review co-chairman and Le Beau visage managing director Peter Le Beau says: “We are delighted to welcome Kevin into the Protection Review team. He brings a prodigious knowledge of the market, terrific personal contacts and a host of fresh and new ideas for extending the Protection Review franchise.”

FTRC director Ian McKenna says: “We have a number of new products and services for the protection market, which we will be launching in 2010. Kevin’s knowledge and experience in this field is unequalled and is ideally placed to make a major contribution to these.”

  • For those of you dazzled by Kevin's meteoric rise up the ladder of fame, I should explain that in his formative years he was my personal backup at Commercial Union Life. Without my patient supervision and endless encouragement, he..er.. would probably have got there a lot sooner.
