Dame Carol Black to speak at Protection Review

National director for health and work Dame Carol Black will be the after dinner speaker at this year’s Protection Review gala dinner.
Black is also chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and chair of the Nuffield Trust.
She also holds positions across a number of other organisations.
Black is chair of the UK Health Honours Committee, a council member of the General Medical Council, and a member of the board of the British Cardiovascular Society.
She also acts as non-executive director of the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement and as a member of the board of governors of the Health Foundation.
In 2002 Black was awarded a CBE for her work on systemic sclerosis and in 2005 was awarded a DBE for her services to medicine.
Black is also currently chairing an independent review of the sickness absence system in the UK with British Chambers of Commerce director general David Frost.

The 2011 Protection Review conference and gala dinner will take place on June 23 in London. Previous speakers include Association of British Insurers director general and former Aegon UK chief executive Otto Thoresen and Friends Life chief executive Trevor Matthews.
