Aviva launches online adviser resource

Aviva has launched an online resource to help advisers find out how certain medical conditions will affect applications for life insurance, critical illness and income protection.
The Adviser Underwriting Centre is free for advisers to access through the Aviva for Advisers website. It includes guidance on the type of medical evidence Aviva is likely to need and guidance on how common conditions will impact underwriting decisions.
Aviva director of protection Richard Verdin (pictured) says: “The Adviser Underwriting Centre provides a new level of support for advisers selling protection business. Advisers who use the centre can develop an understanding of underwriting that will help them to advise clients on the non-financial aspects of protection. If their client has a medical condition, or has had one in the past, it can be difficult to know how it might affect the premium they will pay, or whether the will be accepted at all.
“This resource will enable advisers to find out how their clients’ medical conditions might affect their application, and what information they should include when applying.”
