Aegon pilots premium waiver and rehab service for IP
Aegon is piloting a physiotherapy service for its income protection policyholders.
The pilot, to last six months, offers customers the opportunity to undergo a series of free physiotherapy sessions with the aim of helping them to return to work sooner.
Customers will be offered a three to six week programme depending on the severity of their condition.
Aegon is also piloting a waiver of premium for customers who suffer from a musculoskeletal condition. Symptoms of the condition include back pain, joint injuries or repetitive strain injuries.
Aegon group head of underwriting and claims Matt Rann says: “A musculoskeletal condition is one of the most common reasons for a customer making a claim, and by providing this rehabilitation service free of charge to our customers we are giving them the best possible chance of returning to part-time or full time employment quicker.”
Aegon says its hopes to roll out the service permanently if the pilot proves successful.

The free physio is a good idea, although some other comanies do this sort of thing too - after all, from a provider's perspective £200 worth of physio claim is a lot better than an income replacement claim for a few months...of course it helos the client get back to work quicker too, which suits everyone.
Most providers include waiver of premim in claim as amatter of course, irrespective of the cause of incapacity.
