Aegon individual protection head to leave

Aegon head of individual protection sales and distribution development Alun Beynon is leaving Aegon.

Beynon has decided to leave to look at other opportunities in the UK protection market. His last day at the company will be December 3.

Beynon was part of the senior management team that launched Aegon’s individual protection proposition in the UK in 2001, following its acquisition of Guardian’s life and pensions operation in 1999.

He has been with Aegon and previously with Guardian for a total of 26 years.

The individual protection team will now report to director of partnership sales Andy Rowson.

Beynon says: “I am enormously proud of what Aegon has achieved over the last ten years and have no doubt it will continue to play an important role in the development and provision of protection solutions in the future.

“I will be looking at further opportunities to make a positive impact in the UK protection market.”

Aegon sales director Duncan Jarrett says: “We would like to thank Alun for his considerable contribution over the years and wish him well in whatever he decides to do in the future.”

  • Alun will be missed greatly by those who worked closely with him and knew him. All the very best for the future.

  • Another example of how undervalued protection is within AEGON. What was a fantastic team has been allowed to crumble and he won't be the last departure
