A wide world of investment for Dentons' Sipp

Self-invested pension specialist Dentons Pension Management has designed a self-invested personal pension to provide investors with maximum investment choice and flexibility if they need it, with lower annual administration costs if they prefer a simpler strategy.

Dentons has over 30 years’ experience in pension management and is used to dealing with complex investments and transactions, including commercial
property. It was founded in the 1970s to deal with small self-administered schemes, but entered the Sipp market in 1996.

The company’s new Sipp provides access to a wide range of permitted investments including investment funds, quoted UK and global equities, unquoted UK equities, deposit accounts, hedge funds and commercial property. There are some asset classes it does not accept, including commodities, residential property and global unquoted equities but if investors have a specific investment in mind, they are encouraged to discuss it with Dentons to see if there is a way to access it.

Dentons understands that not all investors will want to invest in the full range of permitted investments, so offers a single portfolio option enabling investors to access a pre-approved investment manager or platform. The Sipp provides complete flexibility on the frequency and payment of contributions and investment choice. It enables investors to opt for staggered or phased retirement and capped or flexible drawdown.

Advisers and their clients are able to view all assets held in the Sipp online, including the latest valuation and cash account balances. The plan has no specific minimum investment but potential investors need to bear in mind that they need to invest enough money to make it worthwhile after charges.

With this Sipp, investors pay only for the services they use and the charges are transparent, with even the hourly rates for additional administration work set out in the literature. However, taking advantage of the full range of investments available will inevitably increase overall costs, especially if investing in specialist assets such as commercial property.
