GE Life axes DSF in IFA-only move

GE Life is closing down its direct salesforce, which sells equity-release income plans, to distribute solely through IFAs. It says it has made this move as planning for income retirement is a complex area where people need advice to get the best from their assets and its salesforce of 30 only accounts for 10 per cent of its distribution. Carl Stick, manager of the Rathbone special situations fund, has a remarkable record. His is the only trust which has been in the top five over one, two, three and five years in a sector which now consists of 280 trusts. Over the past three years, for example, he has achieved a return of 38.7 per cent against a loss of 15.5 per cent for the average trust.
