Lib Dems promise immediate commission on long-term care
The Liberal Democrats have promised to immediately establish an independent commission to develop future proposals for long-term care if elected.
According to the Lib Dems’ manifesto, published today, older people are facing a “serious, long-term crisis”.
It states: “It is unacceptable that this challenge has been treated as a political football. A Liberal Democrat Government would immediately establish an independent commission to develop future proposals for long-term care that will attract all-party support and so be sustainable.”
On Monday Prime Minister Gordon Brown said Labour would push ahead with its plans to reform social care in England if elected, but he failed to fully disclose how his proposed National Care Service would be funded.

This seems sensible, we need an all party conscensus on this.
