Ex-Labour MP Ruth Kelly joins HSBC
HSBC has appointed former Labour cabinet minister Ruth Kelly to its strategy unit, according to the Guardian.
Kelly will look at City reform and consumer protection as managing director of the bank’s corporate development team.
She was formerly MP for Bolton West and worked at the Bank of England before taking on Government roles including Treasury minister, Education Secretary and Transport Secretary before deciding to quit politics at the general election.
Kelly was instrumental in overseeing legislation for the Financial Services and Markets Act as it passed through Parliament.

And they say that crime doesn't pay. An arrogant, overblown and tedious member of the former government. This kind of cronyism should be banned.

Socialism at its best. I am sure i heard her say that she was in politics to make a difference and bridge the gap between rich and poor. Its good that she is sticking by her words and making a difference between the poor and her!!

What stuns me is that anyone at HSBC would think she was any use to them. When she was Minister of Transport, the then Chair of the Transport select committee. the late Gwenyth Dunwoody (Labour) thought she was ineffective, and said so. She's just bought a very expensive house in London I wonder who has provided the mortgage.
