BUDGET: CPI inflation target to remain at 2%

The Government is to continue targeting inflation as measured by the Consumer Prices Index at 2 per cent.

Chancellor George Osborne has announced in his emergency Budget address that CPI inflation is predicted to reach 2.7 per cent by the end of this year.

He says CPI inflation is set to return to the 2 per cent target in the medium-term.
