BUDGET 2010: "noise and no honesty", says Clegg

Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg has hit out at Labour and Conservatives for making “lots of noise” during the delivery of today’s Budget.

Clegg slammed both parties for making “lots of noise” and showing “no honesty whatsoever”.

He criticised Chancellor Alistair Darling for only “slightly modifying” his “over optimistic” growth forecasts, and described today’s tax changes as a “gross disappointment”.

He added: “After 30 years of Labour, Britain is ready for something different. This Budget is the old politics and the old politics is not good enough anymore. It is time for honesty and fairness in taxes. Only one party can deliver both - the Liberal Democrats.”
