UKSIF calls for 'Green Isa' in next Budget

Sustainable investment and finance association UKSIF has called on Government to introduce a ‘Green Isa’ allowance at the next Budget.
The organisation points to YouGov research, published last week, which suggests over 13 million British adults would be likely to invest in a Green Isa during the next 12 months.
UKSIF chief executive Penny Shepherd says the initiative could help plug the UK’s energy investment gap, which research from Ernst & Young indicates could reach £400bn over the next 15 years.
She adds: “We urge the Government to turn its words on Green Isas into action and introduce a new allowance at the next Budget. A Green Isa would engage the public in the climate change challenge and demonstrate the economic benefits of green investment.”
