PBR: Pension credit capital disregard increased

Chancellor Alistair Darling has increased the capital disregard for pension credit from £6,000 to £10,000 in today’s pre-Budget report.

The Government estimates the move will benefit 540,000 pensioner households by an average of £4 a week.

Darling also announced a new tax back campaign where by pension credit beneficiaries will be contacted to encourage them to claim back tax they may have overpaid on their savings income.
