Partha Dasgupta appointed TPAS chairman

Partha Dasgupta has been appointed to the role of chairman of The Pensions Advisory Service.

Dasgupta, who replaces outgoing chair Margaret Snowdon, will remain in the role for three years.

Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Yvette Cooper says: “I am pleased to announce that Partha
Dasgupta has agreed to be the new chairman of the Pensions Advisory Service.

“He will bring a wealth of pensions, financial and management experience to his new role.”

Dasgupta says: “I am very pleased to have been given the opportunity to lead a body as well-regarded as TPAS.

Last year’s record demand from the public for our independent and free one-stop information and guidance on pensions demonstrates the growing
need for our services.

“Our network of volunteers and professional staff are respected by the pensions industry and we believe we offer real value
for money. I look forward to working with them and the wider pension community to build on past successes and meet the challenge of continuing to provide a first rate service to the public in a changing pensions environment.”

Dasgupta is also a non-executive director of the UK Statistics Authority and a member of the audit committee, a non-executive member of the Save the Children Investment Committee and a director of the SAUL Trustee Company.

He joined the Pension Protection Fund as director of investment and finance in 2005 and served as its chief executive and accounting officer from 2006 to 2009. Prior to this he worked at Barclays Global Investors and Prudential.
