Nest unveils trustee board and appoints Jeannie Drake as deputy chair

The National Employment Savings Trust Corporation has appointed Pada acting chair Jeannie Drake as deputy chair.

Drake’s appointment as deputy chair designate will commence on April 1, converting to deputy chair on July 5.  She will receive £35,880 annual remuneration for a time commitment of one day a week from July 5.

Nest has also announced its trustee members, including Prudential UK director of retirement strategy and innovation Tom Boardman, Safe Homes Income Plans chair Laurie Edmans and former Financial Ombudsman Service chair Sue Slipman.

Chris Hitchen, Julius Persaill and Diane Hayter also join Nest as trustee members.

Pensions minister Angela Eagle says: “These appointments show the Government is committed to recruiting people with proven track records and the expertise to get the job done.  Being a trustee of Nest will be a challenging role.  These people bring a wealth of experience in running pension schemes, representing consumer and worker interests, and operating in complex delivery environments.”

Pada chief executive Tim Jones says: “The appointment of Jeannie is fantastic news. Her commitment to pension reform and the delivery of Nest has been unwavering.This decision means she will be able to see that commitment through to delivery of a scheme that will help millions achieve a better income in retirement.”
