Maggie Craig to stand in as interim ABI director general
Association of British Insurers director of life and savings Maggie Craig will take over as director general until the trade body finds a replacement for outgoing head Stephen Haddrill.
Haddrill announced he was to quit the insurance trade body to join the Financial Reporting Council in May. He will step down from his role on November 14 and Craig, who will continue in her current position, will take over as director general on November 16.
The ABI says Haddrill’s permanent successor should be announced “in the not too distant future”.
An ABI spokesman says: “It takes a long time to recruit someone of this calibre. We always envisaged there would be a period where the ABI would be without a permanent director general. The board took the decision that Maggie was the best person to step in in the interim and we are very pleased she has agreed to take on the role. She will continue with all her current responsibilities.”
