ABI's Ben Stafford joins Cicero
Association of British Insurers policy adviser Ben Stafford is leaving the trade body to take up a role at Cicero Consulting.
Stafford, who led the ABI’s Options initiative to speed up annuity transfers, will be an account director, responsible for developing Cicero’s new and existing client base. The ABI is recruiting for a replacement.
Stafford has been at the ABI since 2006. Prior to this, he helped establish the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries after starting out in financial services as a journalist.
Cicero says he brings a strong understanding of UK financial services policy with experience in the life and pension industry, public policy, financial services lobbying, communications and PR.
Stafford says: “Cicero is an outstanding company and I am delighted to be joining such a strong team.
“While the country’s economic situation is bleak, there are huge opportunities for companies that adapt to the changing financial services landscape, in the UK and beyond. I am looking forward to working with clients and colleagues to maximise these opportunities.”
ABI director of life & savings Maggie Craig says: “We are very sorry to be losing Ben. His input has been invaluable in delivering major improvements in the retirement income space, particularly in relation to the open market option. We wish him every success in his new role.”
Cicero director and chief corporate counsel Iain Anderson says: “We are delighted that Ben is joining Cicero. His knowledge and expertise in financial services, particularly in the life and pensions arena, will be a valuable asset to our expanding team.”
