Polar Capital appoints chief risk officer

Polar Capital Holdings has appointed Karim Vellani as the firms new chief risk officer.

Vellani joins from Credit Suisse where he was head of risk management for the global property trading business, covering the likes of hedge funds; energy and commodities; and fixed income.

Vellani has also held the role of chief risk officer at multi-strategy hedge fund DE Capital Management.

Polar Capital chief executive officer Mark Kary says: “With 18 years experience in wholesale financial markets across multiple asset classes including equities, fixed income and currencies, Karim is the ideal choice to further build on Polar Capital’s risk management programme.
