Get an Eiffel: Mark Pittaccio celebrates a towering achieve ment in Paris after ‘suffering in paradise’

In Partnership investment director Mark Pittaccio has completed a gruelling 3,608km bicycle ride along the 2010 route of the Tour de France to help raise more than £20,000 for charity.

Pittaccio tackled the journey alongside members of the R2R charity riding team that he set up last year. They cycled 10 to 12 hours a day, with only two days’ rest in completing the 20 stages, battling against lightning storms, hail and 45-degree heat.

The cash is being donated to the William Wates memorial Trust, which encourages disadvantaged young people to take part in sports and arts projects.

Pittaccio says: “We suffered in paradise as the Alps and the Pyrénées offered surroundings of breath-taking beauty when we had little breath left to take.”
