Julius Baer launches Japan stock fund
The first investment approach is the ‘quant pool’ which has a value nature.
Julius Baer screens the 1,100 stocks in the MSCI Japan index with a proprietary quant model to identify up to 100 of the most attractive stocks.
The second approach, the ‘diamond pool’ is a concentrated portfolio of 20 to 30 companies. The companies selected demonstrate excellent business models and have a leading position in the markets they operate in, either domestically or abroad.
The quant pool currently holds 55 per cent of total net assets of the fund while the diamond pool holds 45 per cent.
The fund is available is on the Transact platform.
Product Specialist Equities Dirk Kubisch says: “Japan is out of recession and has recently achieved positive growth. With more stable currency markets and cheaper production costs the Japanese equity markets moved from the red into the black. Additionally, rising exports are giving a fillip to the market. With this impetus, the market has sound chances of outperforming the MSCI World Index in the first half of an upswing.”
