Ben Pakenham is to leave Henderson Global Investors to join the high yield bond team at Aberdeen Asset Management.

The bond manager will take a portfolio manager and credit analyst position at Aberdeen and report to Paul Reed, the head of European high yield. He will concentrate on credit research as well as helping to manage a number of high-yield portfolios overseen by the team.

John Pattullo and Jenna Barnard will take over Pakenham’s £136m Henderson extra monthly income bond fund.

Pakenham will remain with Henderson until August 12 to help with the merging of the £92.2m Gartmore high yield corporate bond fund into the Henderson extra monthly income bond fund.

The departing manager was also co-manager on the £496m Henderson fixed interest monthly income and the £203.3m Henderson high yield monthly bond funds.

Henderson adds that an appointment to its retail fixed income team is “imminent” now Pakenham is leaving the firm.
