Neptune Investment Management
Neptune Investment Management was founded by Robin Geffen, who organised the management buyout that allowed him to transfer four funds from Orbitex, the Switzerland-based firm that closed its UK operations in 2002, to Neptune in the same year.
Neptune is a privately owned fund management company offering a range of collective investment schemes, mainly investing in equities. These schemes include OEICs, Unit Trusts and a Luxembourg-domiciled SICAV. The groups’ funds are available to private investors, advisers and institutional clients.
Following fund manager Alex Breese’s departure to Schroders, Neptune Investment Management merged its UK Equity and UK Special Solutions funds. The newly merged fund is now managed by Scott MacLennan, who previously ran the UK Equity fund.
Neptune Investment Management reviews its fund range regularly to ensure it is meeting the requirements of investors. Consequently, the decision was made to close the US Max Alpha fund, European Max Alpha fund, Green Planet fund and Japan Max Alpha fund in April 2013, due to lower than anticipated investor demand.
