Santander UK appoints new director of mortgages

Santander UK director of mortgages Nici Audhlam-Gardiner has been appointed director of banking within the company.
Replacing her will be former director of commercial product management Phil Cliff, who joined from Abbey in 2000. Cliff will be responsible for mortgage marketing across the retail and intermediary business.
He says: “This year offers up a great opportunity to strengthen our position in the mortgage market and I am relishing the challenge of continuing to develop our proposition to the benefit of our customers and the intermediary community.”
Santander announced this week that they will rename their 1000 Abbey and Bradford & Bingley branches to Santander by the end of January.
Chairman of Banco Santander Emilio Botín says: “Over the last five years we have transformed our UK business into one of the most successful banks in the country. The decision to become Santander will put us in an even stronger position the UK.”
