Santander plans £3bn UK flotation

Santander is planning to list on the London Stock Exchange as early as this autumn, with hopes of raising up to £3bn from the flotation.

According to the Financial Times, Santander would use the cash raised from its float to fund the acquisition of 318 Royal Bank of Scotland branches.

Santander recently acquired 173 German branches of Swedish bank SEB for £467m.

It is thought Santander would look to list around 20 per cent of its UK operations on the LSE.

Last year the Spanish bank completed a $7bn flotation of its Brazilian arm.
