RBS to cut 2,600 jobs

Royal Bank of Scotland has revealed it is to cut 2,600 jobs across the group, 2,000 of which will be from its insurance division.

A spokeswoman for RBS says: “We are working hard to rebuild RBS in order to repay taxpayers for their support and having to cut jobs is the most difficult part of this process. We have strived at all times to be open and honest about the tough choices we are making.

“We will do all we can to support our staff through this process and do everything possible to keep compulsory redundancy to an absolute minimum. So far the job losses we’ve announced to date have resulted in fewer than one in four people being made compulsorily redundant.”

  • Yes, they are doing everything possible to reduce compulsory redundancy! What is meant by this is; increasing targets to unachievable levels for their staff, saying they aren't meeting targets and having them out within 12 weeks.

Not to mention if you had the slightest ounce of sense and saw this coming, as it has been on the table for over a year, they would go out of their way to get rid of you.

Definitely more news to come from RBS yet!
