Platform to relocate 80 staff or offer them redundancy

Platform has revealed it is relocating 80 mortgage and customer service staff from London to Leek and Stockport or offering them redundancy if they do not wish to move.

Following the merger between The Co-operative Financial Services and Britannia last year, Britannia’s intermediary lending division Platform is moving its pre-completion service to its mortgage processing centre in Leek and its customer care service to its service centre in Stockport.

Platform says the prime reason for these changes is to ensure that there is access to additional people with skills and experience in mortgage processing and customer service, so that it can continue to grow its intermediary mortgage business and deliver a consistent service even during peaks in volume.

A spokesman says: “We will maintain core teams at these new locations that just focus on intermediary business. The changes will be phased to protect service levels and we’ll be putting a lot of emphasis on training to ensure that these teams are equipped to deal with intermediary business.”

All other Platform functions will continue to be based in London.

The exact dates of these changes are still to be confirmed.

  • For reasons of vitally needed and potentially huge economies, the FSA should be making similar announcements to 2,500 of its staff presently and quite unnecessarily based at one of the country's most expensive office locations. What chance of that, we wonder?

  • A very valid point, giving the civil service is also making such cost saving cuts. It would be interesting to ask Mr Sants what measures he has in place to counter the massive increases he expects to oversee.

  • Another sad announcement in the history of Platform.
Considering the company is part of Britannia BS and it's mantra is 'Living The Values' it should practice what it preaches.
Speaking as one of those made redundant last time I do hope that Platform handles this wave of job losses with more sensitivity and come over in a less condescending manor internally.

Leaving Platform was the best thing that ever happened to me though - always a silver cloud if you look hard enough!.

  • Well done Julian....is there no topic by which you can't pursue your vendetta against the FSA?

Just wondering what will happen post election when FSA is broken up...you will have two separate organisations to campaign against!! It might be a bust time for you..... how will you find the time to service your clients?? :)
