Metro Bank to open July 29

Metro Bank has revealed it will be opening its first branch in the centre of London on July 29.
Metro Bank, which says it is the first wholly new bank to open in the UK in more than 100 years, will open its first store in Holborn and open a second in Earl’s Court a week later. It says it has plans to open a further 12 branches in Greater London over the next two years as part of an overall 200 branch expansion plan.
The new bank says it is will “adopt a retail store model offering” and will be open seven days a week and will operate a 24-hour call centre. All loan decisions will be made in-store by the branch manager.
Metro Bank chairman Anthony Thomson says: “We have been preparing for this day for a long time and are delighted it’s finally here. We plan to offer our customers a great retail experience, and we want to make banking fun for everyone.”
