If I Were You scheme links with WH Smith
If I Were You, the financial concierge service set up by ex-Virgin boss Rob Clifford and ex-Egg chief Paul Gratton, is offering free membership to WH Smith’s loyalty scheme members.
If I Were You normally costs £10 a month but WH Smith’s 300,000 Privilege Club members are being offered the service for free as well as a £25 cashback offer if they arrange a mortgage through the firm.
Gratton and Clifford launched If I Were You before Christmas as a membership service providing guidance on unregulated products or putting clients in touch with brokers or advisers for regulated products.
If I Were You has already joined with MoneyQuest for mortgage advice and has just set up a protection advice offering delivered through Contact Insurance. It will refer IFA business to Towergate from the summer. It is understood to be in talks with AllMyPlans.com about offering its platform service as part of If I Were You.
Clifford says: “We planned to launch with a small number of partners representing very different consumer-facing sectors, hence our launch partners being a major retailer, WH Smith, a major trade union, a social network with 1.4 million members and a building society, four organisations with millions of members between them but very different organisations. WH Smith is a key one due to it being such a trusted and stable brand, with 1,000 retail outlets.”
