Mark Burgess appointed co-manager on Threadneedle funds
Threadneedle chief investment officer Mark Burgess has been appointed co-manager with Alex Lyle across three funds within Threadneedle’s range.
Burgess will share co-manager duties with Lyle across the £232m global equity fund, £630m global equity and bond fund and the £832m equity and bond fund.
Burgess joined Threadneedle as chief investment officer this month from Legal & General Investment Management. He replaced Sarah Arkle, who had been CIO for the past 10 years and who retired to become Threadneedle vice-chairman.
Arkle had been co-manager on all three funds. The global equity, global equity and bond and equity and bond funds are all currently top quartile in their respective IMA sectors in the past three years. Arkle will also continue to be involved with the Threadneedle Asset Allocation committee.
At LGIM, Burgess was managing director, head of equities, responsible for the company’s £10bn active equity business. He was at Deutsche Asset Management for 12 years, including roles as managing director, head of UK equity and balanced products.
Chelsea Financial Services managing director Darius McDermott says: “Mark has held a number of senior positions and I am sure he will do a good job in maintaining the strong performance on those funds.
