Jupiter names Somerville as deputy on global managed

Jupiter Asset Management has named Simon Somerville as deputy manager on its £265m global managed fund under John Chatfeild-Roberts.

The group has also named far eastern equities analyst Dan Carter as manager of the Japan portion of the fund, joining the other seven regional managers including Europe manager Cedric de Fonclare.

Somerville is to retain his role as manager of the Jupiter Japan income fund.

Jupiter chief investment officer Chatfeild-Roberts says: “Simon is regarded as one of the leading managers in the Japanese equities sector and also has experience managing global portfolios. In keeping with our policy of developing our fund management team, it makes sense for us to utilise Simon’s talents by increasing his responsibilities.”

Since launch in February 1998 the Jupiter global managed fund has delivered a top-quartile return of 152 per cent.
