Julius Baer opens natural resources fund to British investors

Julius Baer has opened its £85m natural resources fund to British retail investors.

The Luxembourg-domiciled fund invests in various resources sectors including agriculture, energy, and mining. The management teams create best ideas portfolios across themes such as exploration and production, engineering and construction, and mining and fertilisers.

The management of the fund is outsourced to Wellington Management, a natural resource specialist.

Dirk Kubisch, a product specialist in charge of the fund, says demand for natural resources will grow as global demographics change and emerging markets become more developed. Finite reserves of resources will cause constraints on the supply side, driving growth in the sector, he says.
