The real figure for unemployment is 8.1 million people which would represent roughly 18% of the workforce. On top of this figure, the Ons should provide figures as to how many people are working part-time or temporary due to the lack of full-time opportunities. Europe will continue to be the laggard for employment prospects as the mantle for world growth has passed from the West to the East.
