Threadneedle promotes Leigh Harrison and appoints trio of fund managers
Threadneedle has promoted Leigh Harrison to head of equities and bolstered the UK desk with the appointment of fund managers Simon Brazier, Richard Colwell and James Thorne.
Brazier joins from Schroders as co-head of UK equities alongside Harrison, while Richard Colwell joins from Aviva and will work closely with Harrison on the UK income range. James Thorne joins from Barings as a fund manager to boost the UK smaller companies team.
In addition to retaining his role as co-head of equities, Harrison will continue to manage both the UK equity income and UK equity alpha income fund. Brazier will assume responsibility for all UK equity non-income products.
Harrison will take on the role of head of equities once all three new fund managers are in place and will continue to report to chief investment officer Sarah Arkle.
Arkle says: “Leigh is an excellent investor, a great mentor and an effective communicator – all essential attributes for a head of equities. We believe it is important for Leigh, as head of equities, to retain fund management responsibilities, as being closely involved with the markets will enable him to lead the debate and idea generation, which is such a key part of our investment philosophy. I am very pleased with the calibre of the new recruits and the opportunity for Leigh to play a larger role within the equity team.”
