Advisers believe F&C Asset Management will drop the Thames River Capital name as the firm considers a rebrand.

F&C has confirmed it is recruiting a new head of marketing but says no decision has been made about the future of the Thames River name.

In September, F&C announced it was rebranding its UK multi-manager retail range to Thames River following its acquisition of the company.

An F&C spokeswoman says: “We are actively looking for a head of marketing. Michael Warren was appointed interim marketing director at F&C after Scott Stevens’ exit in 2010. Michael will continue as investment director at Thames River Capital and head of product development for F&C. No decision has been made for the rebrand yet.

Informed Choice managing director Martin Bamford says: “F&C is a better-known brand and it has got more in the way of heritage behind it. It makes sense to have a single brand.”

Equity Partners UK managing director Kevin Tooze says: “F&C has one of the oldest investment trusts in the business and it makes sense to draw on that history and culture. The F&C brand is more well known to the 50 to 80-year-old generation that have money to invest.”
