Swip appoints chief economist

Scottish Widows Investment Partnership has appointed Doctor Lucy O’Carroll to the role of chief economist.

Reporting to head of global strategy Ken Adams, O’Connell will be responsible for heading Swip’s analysis of global economic developments and prospects, with a focus on growth, inflation, interest rates and bond yields.

She joins Swip from within Lloyds Banking Group where she has been a senior economist for the past two years.

O’ Connell will succeed Richard Dingwall-Smith, who has been Swip’s chief economist since 1998. Richard will remain at Swip in the role of senior economic adviser.

She will based at the firm’s Edinburgh office.
