Rating firm puts Schroder funds on review as Gartside quits

JP Morgan Asset Management has appointed Nick Gartside as international chief investment officer of fixed income.

Last week, MoneyMarketing.co.uk revealed that Gartside is to leave his role as Schroders global head of fixed income at the end of this year to join JPM.

He will report to Bob Michele, global chief investment officer of fixed income for New York, London and Asia.

Gartside joined Schroders in 2002 as a euro government bond portfolio manager. He moved to the global bond team as a global government bond portfolio manager in 2007.

He took on the £324m Schroder strategic bond fund in September 2008 after former global head of fixed income Bob Michele joined JPM.

Bhupinder Bahra and Frederick Bourgoin have taken over Gartside’s responsib- ilities on the Schroder ISF strategic bond fund and Schroder ISF global bond fund. The pair will also run the ISF global inflation bond fund alongside David Scammell.

Morningstar has now placed these Schroder funds under review as a result of the news.

Fund analyst Alex Prineas says: “We are evaluating the potential impact for investors of the change in management on these funds.”
