Polin quits Ignis

Ignis Asset Management sales and marketing director Jona-than Polin has quit after seven years at the firm.

He will leave Ignis at the end of July and all sales and marketing activity will be overseen by Ignis chief executive Chris Samuel.

Polin is known for setting up a number of boutique strategies at Ignis, such as European investors Argonaut Capital Management and UK equity investors Cartesian Capital Partners.

He says: “After seven years at Ignis, which has been a fantastic time, it is time to move on to do something else. In that time, I built a joint-venture business and I have had a fantastic run. There are other things that I now want to go and do. The focus of the Ignis business is realigning and it is the right time for me to do something new.”

He refused to comment on any possible future roles within the industry.

Last month, Money Marketing revealed that Ignis head of discretionary sales Jon Garland is leaving to join ex-Liontrust managers Jeremy Lang and William Pattisson at Ardevora.

Garland follows former Ignis head of marketing Rob Page, who left in April to join Ardevora.

Chelsea Financial Services managing director Darius McDermott says: “It is a disappointment JP is leaving Ignis. He went in and reinvigorated the business. Ignis needs someone strong to run the retail side and I think it will need to bring someone in quickly to replace JP.”

Access Wealth management partner Jim Clancy says: “Boutiques are reviewing what they are going to do. After the RDR, everyone is going to be looking at cost and asset managers will have to concentrate on the charges. It has been a tough environment and Ignis got the model wrong.”
