3A reveals full Altin hedge fund holdings
Fund of hedge fund manager 3A has again disclosed the entire holdings in its Altin portfolio, which was up by 11.16 per cent this year as at October 28.
The portfolio is invested in more than 30 underlying hedge funds which represent 10 strategies. The biggest allocation is made to long/short equity strategies at 30.23 per cent, but 3A says this is lower than it has been. Multi-strategy funds represent 19.31 per cent, credit strategies 12.27 per cent, macro strategies 11.51 per cent and convertible bond strategies 5.44 per cent of the portfolio. Smaller amounts are invested in other strategies such as fixed income, event-driven and equity long bias. The biggest individual holding is the Scopus fund, a long/short equity fund. 3A likes this fund because it is run by a talented manager who has a good track record.
Chief executive officer Jean Keller says: “It is really obvious after last year that you need to position investments for any market correction or fallout. Long/short managers are trading oriented and take advantage of market trends. We favour more liquid strategies with a trading- orientated style but the price you pay for this is more directional exposure.”
