LGIM appoints Churchlow as head of active equities

Legal and General Investment Management has appointed Robert Churchlow as its new head of active equities.

Churchlow takes the role from Mark Burgess who is leaving the firm to join Threadneedle as chief investment officer early next year. Burgess is replacing current CIO Sarah Arkle.

Churchlow, who was previously responsible for the UK desk, will continue to manage the £15m UK absolute return and £223m growth funds. He will report to LGIM chief executive officer Kevin Gregory.

Churchlow joined LGIM from Invesco in 2003 where he was the head of the UK institutional equities team. Prior to this role, Churchlow managed UK equity portfolios and was responsible for the in-house pan European equity research team at Royal and Sun Alliance Investment Management. He began his career as an investment analyst with Provident Life.
