Jupiter fund of investment trusts and monthly income manager Laurie Petar has passed away after a long battle with cancer.
Petar joined Jupiter in 1999 and was also a director at the firm. Prior to joining Jupiter, he was a consultant to HSBC Securities, an executive director at UBS Securities and a partner at Gilbert Eliott and Co.
Patrick Harrington, who was worked alongside Petar on both his funds’ since the beginning of 2010, takes over as sole manager with immediate effect.
Jupiter Asset Management chief executive Edward Bonham Carter says: “This is a very sad time for Laurie’s family, friends and all of us at Jupiter. He will be greatly missed.
“Laurie’s commitment to his funds remained throughout his long illness and he took great satisfaction from his ability to continue producing strong performance during this time. From the start of this year he was supported in this endeavour by Patrick Harrington who successfully managed a similar fund at M&G for several years and also covered the sector for OLIM between September 2005 and January 2009.”
