Ignis has launched Ignis Advisers, a £2.4 billion business unit which will combine its fund of hedge fund, fund of real estate, fund of private equity and retail multi-manager capabilities.

Michiel Timmerman joins as managing director and chief investment officer of Ignis Advisers. His primary objective will be to grow the business unit and to build upon the foundations of each of its capabilities.

Timmerman joins from Aberdeen Asset Managers, where he held the role of chief investment officer of the former RBS Asset Management fund of hedge fund, private equity and long-only multi-manager businesses Aberdeen acquired from RBS in February.

Chris Samuel, the chief executive at Ignis Asset Management, says consolidating its fund of hedge funds, fund of real estate, fund of private equity and multi-manager capabilities into a single business unit will provide additional resource and a greater focus.
