Barings appoints John Burns as COO

Baring Asset Management has appointed John Burns as chief operating officer.

Burns replaces John Misselbrook who is retiring at the end of 2011 after a decade with the firm.

Burns was previously COO at Visor Capital in Almaty, Kazakhstan, a boutique investment bank with an FSA-authorised UK subsidiary.

He has also held roles at Fidelity and Schroders.

Burns will be responsible for the likes of information technology; compliance; organisational risk; business services and change management. Misselbrook will be passing the role over to Burns over a transitional period for the remainder of 2011.
