Barings appoints head of Latin American equity
Barings Asset Management has appointed Roberto Lampl as head of Latin American equity.
The newly created position will see Lampl and his team responsible for all segregated and pooled products across the region.
Barings currently has £11.6bn of assets in the emerging markets space, including £1.1bn in Latin America.
Lampl has over 12 years experience of investing in Latin America, including his most recent role as a senior investment manager at ING Investment Management. He will be based in the UK and will report to head of equities Tim Scholefield.
Scholefield says: “We are delighted to welcome Roberto to Barings. He has an outstanding investment record in Latin America equity and we are excited that he will be using that experience to support Barings’ growth in this region. Latin America equity offers a compelling long term investment case and we believe should be considered by investors, alongside other emerging markets opportunities, when looking for growth and a diversified portfolio.”
