Aberdeen names Asia Pacific strategy and asset allocation head

Aberdeen Asset Management has appointed Singapore-based strategist Peter Elston as head of Asia Pacific strategy and asset allocation.

In the new role Elston will report to Hugh Young, the head of Aberdeen’s Asian business, and Mike Turner, the head of global strategy and asset allocation.

He joined Aberdeeen in 2008, having previously spent 11 years at Mercury Asset Management.

Elston says: “The case for broad investment exposure to Asia is a simple and compelling one. Aberdeen already has strong track records in the key underlying asset classes of Asian equity, fixed income and property around which we will continue to grow multi-asset products.”

Young adds: “Asia will remain a growth region for decades to come. Peter’s appointment is recognition of the increasing interest in Asian multi-asset solutions and represents a natural step in the development of our business in the region.”
