570 jobs to go at Lloyds

Lloyds Banking Group is cutting 570 staff following the termination of its 10-year administration contract with Equitable Life.

Around 570 staff are set to leave Lloyds’ Aylesbury office after Equitable Life appointed Indian based IT company HCL as their new third party administrator.

Around 340 Lloyds staff will transfer to HCL When the contract between Lloyds and Equitable ends in March 2011. 100 are likely to be retained after the exchange of contracts.

Equitable Life and HCL will retain 100 roles in Aylesbury.

Halifax Life managing director John Van Der Wielen says: “We will be working through a two year programme that will see life, pensions and investments relocate from Aylesbury by the end of 2011. This will allow us to manage our exit in a phased fashion and work closely with the local government bodies to ensure colleagues achieve the best possible outcome based on the options available.”

“We recognise that these changes are likely to cause uncertainty for colleagues. We understand this and will provide colleagues as much ongoing support as possible.”
