Paul Armson sets up lifestyle planning support firm
Former Prestwood head of marketing Paul Armson has set up his own IFA training and marketing company for lifestyle financial planners.
Armson, who left the technology firm earlier this month, has set up Alternative, a support panel for lifestyle financial planners.
The panel will help promote alternative financial planning to a wider audience and advisers who join will have access to training, marketing and lead generation services.
Alternative charges an initial joining fee, then a monthly membership fee thereafter.
Alternative founder chief executive Armson says: “It’s a sad fact that, because of too much product focus, the general public cannot distinguish between a real financial planner and a financial adviser - we intend to do something about that. We intend to promote real financial planning that focuses on clients, not their money.”
He adds: “The retail distribution review will change the face of financial services in the UK. The days are numbered for advisers who do not raise their game.”

This is innovative. The current financial services industry marketing message is focused in all of the wrong areas.
Many IFAs (not all) still sell product - not planning. They never think to look at the 'big picture' and what the client really wants/needs, carry out a cash flow analysis and answer the important questions like ‘what level of financial risk (if any) does the client require to achieve their lifetime goals?’ and ‘how much is enough?’.
I wish Paul Armson luck and do think he will succeed in building a community of advisers who focus on the client and financial planning -rather than providers/funds/products/wraps/investments and all the other industry ‘white noise’.

Lifestyle planning has made a huge difference to our practise and clients' lives. What more can I ask..other than where do I sign.
