Simplyhealth buys Denplan

Fast-expanding provider Simplyhealth has bought Denplan, the UK’s largest provider of dental payment plans and dental employee benefits for an undisclosed sum.
Simplyhealth says the acquisition will help it to gain market presence in a complementary area of healthcare, supporting its broader diversification strategy which has also recently involved the acquisition of Groupama Healthcare.
The provider says Denplan is a strategic fit for Simplyhealth’s mutual model because of its continued drive to make quality dental care available to as many people as possible.
Brokers and their clients and businesses have been asked to continue to use the same contact details for both organisations and quote for new business from both Simplyhealth and Denplan.

This is going to lead to less choice in the dental market. If service goes the same way as at BCWA, then consumers will lose out.

Simplyhealth - "fast expanding"?? I've just had a look at the accounts over a number of years and apart from the growth through merger, it seems to have been in steady decline, with some monumental write-offs on failed acquisitions and launches. The only thing that seems to have grown is director pay. God help anyone associated with Denplan.

I wonder whether Denplan will go the same way as some of the other Simplyhealth purchases?
