BUDGET 2010: £2bn for new green investment bank

Chancellor Alistair Darling has announced the Government is setting up an investment bank that will control £2bn worth of equity for investing in green transport and sustainable energy.

Half of the equity will come from the assets including the channel tunnel rail link and the rest matched by private investment.

Darling says: “This equity will unlock billions more of finance from the private sector. The fund will focus first on investing in green transport and sustainable energy.”
